GCash, the country’s leading finance super app, enables an easier and more direct way for organizations to raise funds to help communities affected by severe tropical storm Enteng. Users can scan QR codes from the app’s official non-government organization (NGO) partners to extend help to communities affected by the calamity.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Wednesday, a total of 547,029 individuals in 695 barangays have been affected by Enteng and the heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon.
“We are deeply committed to using our platform to make a positive impact, especially during times of crisis. This way, we can help strengthen the Filipino bayanihan spirit and make our kababayans feel that they are not alone in times of hardship,”
CJ Alegre GCash sustainability head
With the QR codes now posted on the app’s official Facebook page, Filipinos enjoy a more streamlined and safer way to contribute to the relief efforts, ensuring efficient delivery of donations to those in need.
Users can visit GCash’s Facebook page and locate the QR codes on this post. They can donate by scanning QR codes linked to GCash’s partner NGOs, including the Red Cross, Ayala Foundation, ABS-CBN, GMA Kapuso, UNICEF, and Save the Children.
GCash urges users to donate only through the app and trusted organizations to ensure security and avoid scams. Likewise, the app advises users never to share their MPIN or OTP with anyone.
GCash advises the public to verify individuals and groups before donating to avoid online scams and fraud. Filipinos can download the GCash app for free on Google Play or App Store.
