Leaving Home: The Sacrifices of a Young Dreamer
Like many young Filipinos, I once dreamed of finishing my college education and securing a stable career. But reality hit hard—financial struggles forced me to drop out. Instead of giving up, I made a bold decision: I left the Philippines and went to Oman to work as a bartender.
I was young, alone, and in a foreign land, but I knew that this sacrifice was necessary. I had to survive, and I had to fight for a better future.
After a year in Oman, I moved to Dubai, where I spent 12 years working different jobs, always striving to improve my life. Every long shift, every sleepless night, and every hardship was another step forward.
A Love That Led to Heartbreak
In 2016, I thought I had finally found happiness. I married an Arab man, hoping for a lifetime of love and stability. But my dreams of a happy family were shattered when, after having a child, my husband abandoned us.
I was left alone, carrying the weight of single motherhood in a foreign country. But instead of falling apart, I used my pain as fuel to keep going.
I worked day and night, sometimes pulling 24-hour shifts, just to provide for my child. There were days when exhaustion took over, but giving up was never an option. I had to survive—not just for myself but for my child.
Coming Home: A New Beginning in the Philippines
After years of relentless work, I made another life-changing decision—I returned to the Philippines in 2020. I was determined to build a new life, free from the hardships of working abroad.
I started several traditional businesses, including a water station and a car rental service. Things were finally looking up, and for the first time in years, I felt like I was in control of my future.
But just when I thought I had made it, the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
The Lowest Point: Facing Death and Financial Collapse
The pandemic devastated my businesses. The lockdowns, restrictions, and economic downturn nearly wiped out everything I had worked for.
Then, the unimaginable happened—I contracted COVID-19 and almost lost my life.
As I lay in bed, struggling to breathe, I faced my darkest moment. I wondered if this was how my story would end. But deep inside, I knew I couldn’t give up. God had a purpose for me, and I wasn’t done fighting.
By God’s mercy, I survived. And with that second chance at life, I made a bold decision—I would never rely solely on traditional businesses again.
Reinventing Myself: The Shift to Online Business
With my traditional businesses failing, I had to adapt. I immersed myself in online marketing and online trading, learning everything I could about digital entrepreneurship.
I studied, practiced, and mastered the online space. In time, I began earning from home, making more money than I ever did working exhausting shifts abroad.
For the first time, I had financial stability without sacrificing my health and time with my child.
Thriving and Expanding: Building a Legacy
Now that the world has moved past the pandemic, I have successfully rebuilt my traditional businesses while continuing to grow my online ventures.
My journey has taught me that success is not about avoiding struggles—it is about how you respond to them. Every setback, every hardship, and every heartbreak has only made me stronger.
